Here is a lesser know day trek around Harishchandragad fort (20 Nov 2022). The walk starts from a plateau near 'Pachnai' village. Through the dense thicket of forest, the route opens on a ridge with 'Mula' river basin on right hand side. Just before the hilltop, one can see remains of a fortification. Little further on a small plateau, there is a water tank carved in rocks. On the top there is a small 'Vetal baba' temple. Climb down is slippery with a lot of loose gravel. Too much fun!!
Harishchandragad is an ancient fort spread on a large area. There are 3 to 4 well known routes to climb the fort. Vinayak Wadekar from Sangamner, has discovered another 15/17 routes with the help of local villagers. Locals are using these ancient routes as part of faith and folklores and have given them interesting names.
